Truly Fabulous
Hello friends. I know I haven't posted in a really long time. Not too much to say, though. Working a lot (love it), going to a lot of shows (love that too) and still living in Brooklyn (who doesn't love that?).
I thought since every other American publication is doing a gift guide this week, I would do one too. So, here are my shopping thoughts this Christmas:
Books
Shultz and Peanuts: A Biography by David Michaelis. The history of a truly classic element of Americana in the 20th century.
Many are Called. The photographs of Walker Evans. A pioneer of urban documentary.
Life of Pi by Yann Martel. This is the new illustrated edition that just came out.
Inside Inside by James Lipton. James Lipton was not pimp, repeat NOT a pimp in Paris.
Music
A Love Supreme by John Coltrane. This deluxe 2-disc edition is completely remastered and includes alternate live versions of all four parts.
Una Furtiva Lagrima by Juan Diego Florez. The best bel canto tenor of our generation. Period.
Magic by Bruce Springsteen. He's the boss.
Audio Day Dream by Blake Lewis. Yes, really.
Kids
Madama Butterfly Musical Doll. She plays Un bel di!
Ugly dolls. Even uglier in real life.
New York City in a bag. So you can take it with you.
Umbrellas. Bright colors show through the rain.
Yummy
New Tree chocolate. Godiva Schmodiva, trust me.
Mary Louise Butters Brownie Butts. Shameless butt grabbing for the masses.
Dunkin Donuts Coffee Lovers Gift Set. Two pounds of coffee, hours of caffeine.
Zabar's Babka & Rugelach Crate. A New York institution for a reason.
Beauty
Korres Party Survival Kit. It's from Greece, it has to be good.
DevaSun dryer. For curly girls only.
Cleopatra's Dirty Secret. It's mud, but whatever it is, worth it for the name alone.
Anne Taintor cosmetic bags. Armed and dangerous.

Sponge gloves. A supreme space-saver.
Battery-operated crumb sweeper. Because some of us are just that lazy.
